They always required a more delicate (less is more) approach. the SUB was born out of the pursuit to have a longer board that paddled well and responded to being put on rail. Able to do proper cutbacks and go more vert into the lip, you don’t have to hold back or nurse it. it works well in very small waves as well as larger overhead conditions. For the length of the board the rail line is curvy which gives it the ability to do proper turns and hold arcs. the bottom contours are a combination of flat, concaves and V that create a fast planing surface under your front foot and between your feet with accelerated tail rocker after the fin\/fins. a great board for all skill levels being able to be ridden how ever you like. What strikes most people visually is the channel, but from a design standpoint it is little more than a release point - the water that wraps across a deep-vee shape horizontally and creates that sticky feeling is instead released at the edge of the channel; this gives a lighter feeling underfoot, and more air under the board when on rail, as well as less stick off the top of the wave. The rocker is moderate and flowing with a good kick out the tail; essentially a slightly turned up Lizzy rocker in the front, with a v.Bowls centerline rocker in the back.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe rails are thin and down in the center, turned up in the nose, and hard down in the tail - well foiled all the way through. The fins are 2” in from the rail, well-in from standard twin placement, and an inch taller than the average keel so that it retains a sense of drive in a straight line, but still feel like a rail-fin board in the end. I find that I can draw ‘single fin’ style lines down the face of the wave or down the line, but can break those lines with heavy carves that previously I wasn’t completing. This board has taken my personal surfing into a new place after a number of good years on my Lizzy, and has me very excited! The Cheet has a really sweet and subtle outline with its wide-point slightly ahead of center. The bottom is focused on maximizing lift - with no neutral or unused space and minimal convex; These stay on top of the water with little pumping and draw out really smooth round lines in a variety of waves. Being a more compact ‘midrange’ board, the goal was to pack a punch in every square inch of this egg’s underside and match that with a broad flat deck that makes up a really stable and predictable platform. The rails are low and with a slight egginess to them, not too sharp or penetrating. The bottom shape is a single entry which transitions into a triple then quadruple concave - the outermost ‘rail’ concaves taper off just ahead of the side fins under the back foot where theres a little lump of spiral vee, which fades to flat behind the center fin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e*Fin Note: The side-fin placement in these is slightly farther back and in from the rail than a ‘normal’ 2+1 setup - this is to allow for riding it as a twin fin as well as 2+1 or single fin. The bottom is focused on maximizing lift - with no neutral or unused space and minimal convex; These stay on top of the water with little pumping and draw out really smooth round lines in a variety of waves. Being a more compact ‘midrange’ board, the goal was to pack a punch in every square inch of this egg’s underside and match that with a broad flat deck that makes up a really stable and predictable platform. The rails are low and with a slight egginess to them, not too sharp or penetrating.
