This design sports a pretty hefty spiral vee in the back half of the board, and while that is amazing for rail transitions and feel, it creates suction between the board and wave; the channel breaks that water flow that is sucking onto the board, so you get the three-dimensional value of the spiral vee and its rolling sensation, but without the stickiness. You’ll notice the 7’2 has a straight channel as opposed to the curved one that most have become accustomed to in seeing the FM; the first 15 or so boards all had a straight channel like this, and as Pat’s was in that batch, so I’m running with it for this model as we’re making dead on 1 for 1 copies.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0664/7450/8535/products/7-2-lovemachine-surfboards-fm-oby-1.jpg?v=1676406727
80-lovemachine-surfboards-vbowls-1
8'0" Lovemachine Surfboards VBowls

Please contact us for shipping. As I shrink the FM inch by inch, I shrink the amount of vee as well, so in these smaller iterations you’ll notice less of the rolling feel that the larger ones have, trading that out for more release off the lip and higher planing tendencies in the surface of the water.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0664/7450/8535/products/6-9-lovemachine-surfboards-FM-Twin-spray-3.jpg?v=1680361138
64-lovemachine-surfboards-cheet-1
6'4" Lovemachine Surfboards Cheet
Please contact us for shipping.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0664/7450/8535/files/7-2-lovemachine-surfboards-FM-Fabric-inlay-1.jpg?v=1696009582
910-lovemachine-surfboards-gordo-feo-longboard
9'10" Lovemachine Surfboards Gordo/Feo Longboard

6 Bottom, 6/6 Deck

Tan Opaque Lamination

Sanded Gloss Finish

1/4” Redwood Stringer

9’10” x 23 1/4” x 3 3/8” 89.2L

Large for sure, definitely not ugly; her namesake is the instagram handle of a dear friend, Bill Martin (@GordoYFeo). Bill is father to one of Ryan’s closest friends, Bradley, and had this 9’10 shaped a number of years back - We chose it to scan specifically because of its overall balance and feel, the outline is one that been in constant rotation for the last ten years. Its a large board dimensionally but is nicely foiled and doesn’t carry any excess bulk. The overall rocker curve as well as a light concave up front accommodates noseriding nicely but doesn’t focus the board specifically for tip-time alone, it has plenty of curve in the hips to keep it active and carving from the back. A healthy roll through the mid-section and rolled vee just ahead of the fin makes it happy to go onto rail or stick into trim mid-face; these things love a fun beachbreak with multiple speed sections to explore.

I’m of the mind that noseriding is a thing that should be done in the right part of the right wave, not so much a whenever-wherever thing. So bearing that in mind, even my ‘noseriders’ aren’t generally big planky or parallel-outlined tanks that let you walk all over them on a mushburger or way out on the shoulder. My approach is usually more tame, in that I’ll tweak the tail rocker out, push the nose a tad wider without going overboard, and make sure the tail end is tuned nicely for stalling vs. top end speed. While I’m not a career log-shaper, I do think this approach has netted some really sweet boards and I know they’ve made plenty of people in my rolodex happy, so I elected Bill’s board to fly the flag for LM here as the first log on offer.

Please note that the $190 for shipping charged at checkout for surfboards is a flat rate to the continental US only for boards up to 8'. As I shrink the FM inch by inch, I shrink the amount of vee as well, so in these smaller iterations you’ll notice less of the rolling feel that the larger ones have, trading that out for more release off the lip and higher planing tendencies in the surface of the water.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0664/7450/8535/files/Glide-6-9-Lovemachine-surfboards-FM-perwinkle-1.jpg?v=1712939210
78-lovemachine-surfboards-fm-peach
7'8" Lovemachine Surfboards FM - Peach

6 Bottom, 6/6 Deck

Peach Tint Lamination

1/8” Redwood Stringer w/ Double Glue Lines

7’8” x 22” x 3” 53.55L

The first FM that REALLY clicked was a 7’8 - the first trial being 8’6 and with a clunky nose outline. Its only natural we should offer the design at that length; super well balanced and tuned for average to fun waves, with a pension for being put on rail and pushed hard like any other FM, this version will cover a lot of ground for many people. Most surfers tend to imagine smaller versions when they see an image of the design at first, but the point behind the entire design and what makes it so unique underfoot, is its ability to be ridden large while feeling MUCH smaller. Being so flat and wide across the deck, the paddle speed is incredible but thats not at the expense of making the board unresponsive on-rail like most gliders. The spiral-vee is slid back and runs a little bit out the tail, so it’ll keep more planing speed off the front foot and sit deeper in the pocket, working more vertically than it’s larger counterparts. If you’re coming from a shortboard background or are starting to push your 6’9 FM into some hairy situations and want even more out of the board; This is the one.

Very well suited for travel.

Please note that the $150 for shipping charged at checkout for surfboards is a base price only & the actual total shipping rate is determined by your location and the board length.

I’m on the fence, and this one begs the question for sure. If you ask me, this 6’6” leans to the aggressive side a little too much to land in the pure ‘midlength’ category, but still has plenty of volume to keep you cruising when your wings are toast after 6 hours in the water.

As larger designs like the FM shrink, I try to re-design towards the strengths of a board’s actual size vs. scaling something just to keep it’s namesake - At 6’6” this FM is much sleeker in outline and tuned up for back-foot surfing.

The rails are a bit more forgiving and have more hold in the tube; the fin placement, too, deviates from the larger FM’s in being placed farther out to the rails - this will accommodate more setups to suit whatever flavor twin/zer fins you like, as well as let the board wrap tighter with a less perfect technique on your end.

Please note that the $150 for shipping charged at checkout for surfboards is a base price only & the actual total shipping rate is determined by your location and the board length.
